Lakewood, N.J.- The Georgian Court University men's soccer squad snapped its season-high, three-game losing streak Saturday afternoon with a 2-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory over visiting Felician College on Investors Savings Bank Field.
The Lions enter the halfway mark of the season at 5-4 (2-3 CACC) while the Golden Falcons dipped to 1-5-1 (1-3-1 CACC).
Michael Clarke provided GCU with an initial 1-0 advantage at 39:15 when he controlled a long feed from
Andres Adum and dribbled for a few steps before depositing his team-leading sixth goal of the year.
William Docherty made the score 2-0 at 41:44 when he clubbed in a rebound off Felician goalkeeper
Daniel Wroblewski (Sr.-Brick, N.J.) for his first goal of the season.
Georgian Court fell 1:02 short of its fourth shutout of the campaign when Felician's
Danny Hoyos (Jr.-Perth Amboy, N.J.) headed in an
Azedine Maazouzi (Sr.-Brussels, Belgium) corner kick at 88:58.
Rylan Gentil collected five saves while improving to 5-4 this season in the Lions' net. Wroblewski tallied three saves in the Felician defeat. The Golden Falcons outshot GCU, 12-7, with both clubs taking seven corner kicks apiece.
GCU returns to the pitch Wednesday afternoon when the Lions host Goldey-Beacom College at 3:30 p.m.
