East Stroudsburg, Pa.- The Georgian Court University volleyball squad dropped a pair of contests Saturday, the final day of the East Stroudsburg University Invite.
The Lions (0-3) fell to Mercy College, 3-0 (20-25, 20-25, 17-25) before concluding the day with another 3-0 decision, this time to the host-ESU Warriors (17-25, 21-25, 23-25).
In the opener,
Brenna White (Jr.-Gardnerville, Nev.) paced the Mavericks' offense with 12 digs and a match-high 18 kills to complete the double-double.
Hana Brucaj (So.-Shrub Oak, N.Y.) and
Kirste Zubiate (Sr.-Salinas, Calif.) controlled 12 and 10 digs, respectively while
McKenna Ronan (Jr.-Chandler, Ariz.) distributed a match-leading 34 assists for Mercy (2-2).
Jhoan Agosto Rivera led the Lions with 11 kills while
Jaslene Lopez shared 17 assists.
Gabriela Berrios-Hernandez handled a team-high 17 digs for GCU.
In the nightcap, both
Annabelle Charlton (Jr.-Landenberg, Pa.) and
Abby Welch (Jr.-Vienna, Va.) drilled 11 kills each for the Warriors (3-1). Charlton enjoyed a triple-double by adding 10 assists and 10 digs.
Allye Preziosi (Sr.-Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) topped the club with 18 assists while
Maddie Hutchison (So.-Lake Orion, Mich.) contributed13 digs.
Berrios-Hernandez topped the Lions with six kills and eight digs. Lopez collected another 14 assists while
Kelsey Oliver shared 10 of her own.
Georgian Court returns to action Tuesday evening with a non-conference road contest at Queens College. Start time is slated for 7:00 p.m.
