Wilmington, Del.- The Georgian Court University men's basketball squad made its maiden journey to Goldey-Beacom College Tuesday evening, dropping an 82-67 decision to the Lightning in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) South Division play.
The Lightning even its conference mark at 6-6 and improve to 8-10 on the season while the Lions drop to 2-17 (0-12 CACC).
Goldey-Beacom never trailed in the affair, leading by as many 18 points in the first half before entering intermission with a 42-28 advantage. The home team increased its lead to as high as 27 points in the second stanza as GBC cruised to the final horn, despite only outscoring the Lions, 40-39 in the period.
GBC's
Donte McGill headlined the scoring column with 29 points, including a 10-for-12 effort from the floor and perfect 6-for-6 shooting from beyond the three-point arc.
Kyle Steinbergin poured in 15 points, coming off a 5-for-9 showing from three-point territory.
Chris Gebhart provided 12 points for the Lightning while
Will Williams collected 11 points off the bench.
Jarrel Lane distributed a game-best nine assists while
Derrick Archie snared a team-high 10 rebounds.
Jordan Wejnert paced the Georgian Court offense with his 21 points and fell one rebound short of his third double-double of the year.
Keith Hughes, the CACC's Co-Rookie of the Week, solidified his second double-double on the season with 13 points and game-high 12 boards.
Trey Jones tallied 12 points of his own while
Jalen Robinson produced 11 points and nine rebounds.
The Lions return to the court Saturday afternoon when they travel to Nyack College for another CACC showdown at 3:00 p.m.
