Lions Win Third Straight With Four-Set Battle at Concordia College

Bronxville, N.Y.-The Georgian Court University women's volleyball team won its third straight and returned to the .500 mark Saturday afternoon as they earned a 3-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory Saturday afternoon at Concordia College.

The Lions (10-10, 6-3 CACC) went up 2-0 after victories of 27-25 and 25-23. The Clippers (1-10, 0-9 CACC) took set three, 25-23, before GCU closed out the match by the same score in set four.

Tatiana Villariny Rodiguez (Sr.-Rio Grande, P.R.) was Georgian Court's leader at the net with her 17 kills. Jennifer Smith (So.-Redlands, Calif.) came within a dig of a double-double (10 kills, nine digs) while Anabelle Barinas (Sr.-Newark, N.J.) drilled 10 of her own. Kelsey Oliver (So.-Vancouver, Wash.) secured her fifth double-double of the campaign with 46 assists and 15 digs. Francheska Cedres (Gr.-Carolina, P.R.) added 13 digs for the Lions.

Zoe Mannino (Jr.-Spring Hill, Fla.) topped the Clippers with 19 kills. Jenny Martin (Fr.-Simi Valley, Calif.) enjoyed a double-double with 32 assists and 13 digs while Brittany Chappas led the home team with 18 digs.

GCU next travels to Chestnut Hill College Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m.
