Georgian Court Falls Short to West Chester, 3-2 in High Energy Contest

Lakewood, N.J.- The Georgian Court University women's volleyball squad butted heads with the Golden Rams of West Chester University Tuesday evening in the Wellness Center as the Lions succumbed to the visitors, 3-2, in an intense non-conference battle.

WCU (16-10) took the first set by a count of 25-16 before Georgian Court pushed the Golden Rams to the edge with wins of 25-23 and 31-29 in sets two and three. West Chester retaliated to tie the match at 2-2 with a 25-22 win in the fourth before securing the win by downing GCU, 15-8, in the fifth and decisive frame.

6'3" senior Julia O'Brien (New Holland, Pa.) topped all players with her 18 kills while West Chester teammate Victoria Cruciani (Fr.-Phoenixville, Pa.) added 10 of her own. Mandy Flynn (Jr.-McDonald, Pa.) contributed a double-double with 31 assists and 11 digs. Lyndsey Iacobelli (Fr.-Allentown, Pa.) and Callie Krajcir (So.-Allentown, N.J.) settled 14 digs apiece.

Anabelle Barinas (Sr.-Newark, N.J.) provided a double-double of her own for Georgian Court (13-12) with 14 kills and 10 digs while fellow senior Tatiana Villariny Rodriguez (Sr.-Rio Grande, P.R.) blasted a team-best 17 kills. Kelsey Oliver (So.-Vancouver, Wash.) earned GCU's second double-double of the match with 51 assists and 15 digs. Francheska Cedres (Gr.-Carolina, P.R.) controlled a game-high 17 digs while Jennifer Smith (So.-Redlands, Calif.) and Dara Schroeder (Sr.-Bordentown, N.J.) gathered 15 and 10 digs, respectively.

GCU is now 3-4 in five-set contests this season.

The Lions return to CACC action this Friday with a 6:00 p.m. home match vs. Holy Family University.
