Lakewood, N.J.-The Georgian Court University women's volleyball squad won its second consecutive Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match in as many days as the Lions held Caldwell University at bay, 3-1, Saturday afternoon in the Wellness Center Arena.
The Lions (15-12, 11-3 CACC), current owners of the #1 seed in the South Division, defeated the North Division's top squad 25-21, 25-22, and 15-17 in sets two through four after dropping the initial set, 22-25, to the Cougars (16-8, 11-3 CACC).
Seniors
Tatiana Villariny Rodriguez (Rio Grande, P.R.) and
Jhoan Agosto Rivera (Carolina, P.R.) paced the GCU offense with 15 and 13 kills, respectively.
Kelsey Oliver (So.-Vancouver, Wash.) came within a single dig (50 assists, 9 digs) of her team-leading eighth double-double of the campaign.
Francheska Cedres (Gr.-Carolina, P.R.) led the way with her 28 digs while Georgian Court's California girls,
Jennifer Smith (So.-Redlands, Calif.) and
Taylor Winchester (Jr.-Hesperia, Calif.) garnered 11 each.
Caldwell's
Rachael DiLeonardo (So.-Cincinnati,Ohio) topped the visitors with 10 kills while adding 10 digs for the double-double effort.
Gabrielle Bennett (Fr.-San Antonio, Tx.) contributed a team-best 24 assists while
Athena Nestoras (Sr.-Los Angeles, Calif.) distributed 12 of her own.
Jaclyn Del Cid (Sr.-Bogota, N.J.) led Caldwell with her 11 digs.
