Clarke's Pair of Goals Not Enough as Lions Fall at Bloomfield, 3-2

Bloomfield, N.J.- A pair of goals by reigning Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Player of the Week Michael Clarke (So-Essex, UK) was not enough as the Georgian Court University men's soccer squad dropped its second straight contest, a 3-2 defeat to Bloomfield College in CACC action.

The setback drops the Lions to 3-5-2 (3-2-1 CACC) on the season while the Bears improve to 3-6 overall (3-2 CACC).

Bloomfield took an initial 1-0 advantage at 20:56 when Osayande Aihinmwan (So.-Lagos, Nigeria) sent home an Ishamel Soria (Fr.-Piscataway, N.J.) pass for his third tally of the season. Shaunavon deSouza (So.-Montego Bay, Jamaica) made it 2-0 Bears at 49:21 with an unassisted offering, his second on the year.

Clarke proceeded to take matters into his own hands as he netted two consecutive goals, his conference-leading ninth and tenth of the season, to tie the affair at 2-2. The goal-scoring sophomore first tickled the twine on a Eddy Glover (Jr.-Oxford, UK) feed at 59:08 before knotting the score with a header, courtesy of a Michael Brazzel (Fr.-North Arlington, N.J.) corner kick at 80:37.

Overtime looked to be inevitable, but Bloomfield had other ideas as Aihinmwan collected a Shacquille Brown (Springfield, St. Thomas) pass and shattered the stalemate with 21 ticks remaining on the clock (89:39), his second strike of the game.

Wilson Cisneros (Fr.-Bronx, N.Y.) registered the victory for the Bears, snaring four saves in 90:00 of action. GCU's Rylan Gentil (Sr.-Poseyville, Ind.) suffered the tough-luck defeat as he tallyed three saves in the complete-game effort.

The Bears owned a slight 12-8 advantage when it came to shots and a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.

GCU takes Friday off before returning to the road Saturday afternoon with a 2:30 p.m. CACC contest at Concordia College.
