Philadelphia, Pa.- In their first match against each other since the 2013 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) volleyball championship title game, Georgian Court University once again came out on top as the Lions defeated Philadelphia University, 3-1, Friday evening in Gallagher Center.
In four sets that could have gone either way, GCU earned its fourth straight victory (25-20, 26-28, 25-22, 25-20) after losing a season-high six straight outings.
Anabelle Barinas (Sr.-Newark, N.J.) led the charge vs. the Lady Rams, drilling a match-best 17 kills.
Tatiana Villariny Rodriguez (Sr.-Rio Grande, P.R.) followed with 12 smashes of her own while
Jhoan Agosto Rivera (Sr.-Carolina, P.R.) reached double-digits with 10.
Kelsey Oliver (So.-Vancouver, Wash.) earned 51 assists in the victory.
Francheska Cedres (Gr.-Carolina, P.R.) dominated the back line with 26 digs.
Jennifer Smith (So.-Redlands, Calif.) and
Taylor Winchester (Jr.-Hesperia, Calif.) gathered 14 and 10 digs, respectively.
Chelsea Hughes (Jr.-Wading River, N.Y.) topped the Lady Rams offense with a team-high 14 kills as teammate
Erin Lyman (Fr.-Algonquin, Ill.) acheived a double-double with 10 kills and 17 digs.
Nina Morvin (Jr.-Willow Grove, Pa.) also posted a double-double with 24 assists and 12 digs.
Michele Chai (So.-Sinking Spring, Pa.) controlled 16 digs while
Allison Manley (Jr.-Saint Charles, Ill.) equaled Morvin's total of 12.
The Lions immediately get back to work tomorrow afternoon with another CACC road match, this time at Post University. Start time is scheduled for noon.
