Men's Soccer Season Comes to a Close With 3-0 Loss at Concordia College

Bronxville, N.Y.- The 2014 campaign came to a close Thursday afternoon for the Georgian Court University men's soccer squad as the Lions lost to host-Concordia College, 3-0, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play.

GCU ends its second-ever season with a record  3-12-2 (3-8-1 CACC) while the Clippers improve to 9-2-3 (8-2-2 CACC). The contest was a make-up from a rainout on October 4.

Nabeel Qawasmi put Concordia ahead in the 12th minute (11:43) with his third goal of the season off a long feed from teammates Ovan Oakley and Jesus Alvarez-Riesco. After entering intermission with the 1-0 advantage, Oakley took a short pass from Alvarez-Riesco and deposited his 14th of the year to put the Clippers up 2-0 at 46:53.

Almost exactly 30 minutes later (76:48), Oakley drained #15 after a Georgian Court turnover led to a breakaway goal and sealed the Concordia triumph.

Georgian Court senior netminder Rylan Gentil registered 10 saves in the defeat while Concordia's Ruel Gordon tallied eight of his own. The Clippers outshot the Lions, 20-13, while GCU owned a slight 5-3 advantage in corner kicks.
