Philadelphia, Pa.- The Georgian Court University men's basketball squad suffered an 81-65 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) setback Tuesday evening at Chestnut Hill College as the Lions continue to seek the first conference triumph in program history.
GCU slips to 2-22 overall with a 0-17 mark against CACC foes while the Griffins improve to 9-15 (7-10 CACC).
Chestnut Hill never trailed in the ballgame, leading by as much as 18 points on two separate occasions in the first half. After entering intermission with a 37-28 advantage, the Griffins expanded its surplus to as much as 22 points in the second stanza as the home team outscored GCU, 44-37, in the period.
Taylor Trevisan (Gr.-West Chester, Pa) topped the victors with his 16 points, five steals, and four assists.
Christian Walck (Jr.-Lancaster, Pa.) dropped in 14 points, which included a perfect 8-for-8 from the charity stripe.
Noel Hightower (So.-Easton, Pa.) scored 12 points while snaring a team-best eight boards.
Billy Cassidy (Fr.-Primos, Pa.) contributed 11 points and four swipes.
As for Georgian Court,
Jordan Wejnert solidified his third double-double of the season by leading all players with his 25 points and 10 rebounds.
Luka Zgonjanin netted 12 points for the Lions, a new career-high.
Jeffrey Monfort provided four steals off the GCU bench while
Alex Ramirez led the team with seven assists in a reserve role.
The Lions return home to host Post University this Saturday at 3:00 p.m. in the Wellness Center Arena.
