Lakewood, N.J.- The Post University men's basketball squad drained 16 three-pointers and shot 60.3% from the field as the Eagles coasted to a 96-70 road victory at Georgian Court University Saturday afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) men's basketball action.
The Eagles drained 35-of-58 attempts from the floor, including a dazzling 20-of-28 (71.4%) in the first-half. That first-half effort included hitting on 10-of-16 three-point attempts.
Post (11-15, 11-8 CACC) was never threatened in the contest as the visitors jumped out to an immediate 12-1 advantage just 2:59 into the game. A pair of free throws by
Stephen Perry, Jr. (Sr.-Westhampton, N.Y.) with 7:47 remaining provided the Eagles a stanza-best 19-point lead at 40-21.Coming out of the break with a 54-36 surplus, Post attained its high-water mark of 29 points when a
Jerry Cummings (Sr.-Queens, N.Y.) jumper made the score 79-50 with 9:10 to go.
Five Eagles eclipsed double-digits in the scoring column, led by Perry Jr.'s 19, including five-of-six from beyond the three-point line.
Derrick Strong (Sr.-St Louis, Mo.) achieved a double-double with his 18 points and 10 assists, while snaring a game-best eight rebounds.
Zach Krischer (Sr.-Port Jefferson, N.Y.) hit on 4-of-6 from beyond the arch in totaling 14 points. Cummings tallied 13 points and seven rebounds while
Devin Willis (Sr.-Seattle, Wash.) netted 10 points in 22 minutes.
Keith Hughes paced the GCU offense with his team-leading 15 points and six boards.
Jordan Wejnert popped in 14 of his own and led the team with three steals.
Lindon Lulgjuraj provided 13 points in 28 minutes off the bench.
The Lions (2-23, 0-18 CACC) conclude their maiden campaign Tuesday evening with an 8:00 p.m. home contest vs. University of the Sciences in the GCU Wellness Center.
