GCU Men Conclude Inaugural Campaign With 94-74 Setback to USciences

Lakewood, N.J.- The Georgian Court University men's basketball squad closed out its first-ever campaign Tuesday evening in the Wellness Center as the Lions fell to University of the Sciences, 94-74, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action.

The Lions conclude the year with an overall record of 2-24 (0-19) while the Devils head into the CACC Championship Tournament with a 16-10 (12-7 CACC) mark.

GCU led as late as 11:56 of the first half when Keith Hughes's layup provided the home team an 18-16 lead. USciences' Tyrone Mann-Barnes (Sr.-Woodlynne, N.J.) drained a three-pointer with 7:17 remaining to snap a 24-24 tie, the eighth stalemate of the first half. The advantage would remain with the Devils the rest of the way as the visitors grew its surplus to as high as 11 points after a pair of T-John Casiello (So.-Wildwood Crest, N.J.) made the score 37-26.

After entering intermission up by a 42-32 score, the visitors would go on and run away with the game in the second stanza. A Jon McGill (Fr.-Folsom, Pa.) lay-in with 10:52 on the clock increased the lead to a highwater mark of 27 points at 73-46.

Garrett Kerr (Jr.-Moorestown, N.J.) compiled a double-double for the Devils with 27 points and 13 boards, shooting 11 of 17 from the floor. Kerr added eight assists and four steals in the effort. Sho DaSilva (So.-Moorestown, N.J.) contributed 10 points and eight rebounds in 19 minutes off the USciences bench.

Jordan Wejnert tied a season-best with his 27 points on the evening, the junior's 15th effort of the season with at least 20 in a game. The Pt. Pleasant native also grabbed 10 rebounds to solidify his team-leading fourth double-double. Jalen Robinson followed with 16 points while fellow freshman Keith Hughes provided 13 points and a game-high five blocks.
