Lacrosse Garners Second Straight Victory With 11-5 Defeat of Kutztown University

Cat Dee has scored eight goals over the last two games.
Lakewood, N.J.- The Georgian Court University lacrosse squad evened its record at 2-2 Saturday afternoon as the Lions downed visiting Kutztown University, 11-5, in non-conference action. The victory marks GCU's second straight after starting the year 0-2.

With the score knotted at 1-1with 20:43 remaining in the first half, the Lions rattled off three unanswered goals to take a 4-1 lead headed into the intermission.Senior Molly McCourt scored her sixth of the season 3:05 into the second stanza to give Georgian Court a 5-1 advantage. Kutztown's Jillian Spencer (Jr.-Sewell, N.J.) scored her fourth of five goals on the day to cut the Golden Bears' deficit to 6-4 with 10:26 remaining, but the home team fired in five straight goals to put the score out of reach at 11-4.

For the second straight game, Cat Dee popped in four goals (1 assist) to give the senior eight on the year. Sophomore Melissa Williams collected two of her own.

Making her first collegiate start, Stephanie Lehner won her second consecutive decision in the GCU net while collecting four saves. Kutztown's JoAnn McLaughlin (Sr.-Cape May, N.J.) suffered the defeat, permitting 11 goals while tallying 10 saves.

The Lions kick off the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) portion of their schedule Tuesday afternoon with a 3:00 p.m. contest at Nyack College.
