Lakewood, N.J.- The Georgian Court University lacrosse squad continues to pick up momentum as the Lions opened the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) portion of its schedule Tuesday afternoon with a 20-5 victory at Nyack College, marking the Lions' third straight triumph (3-2, 1-0 CACC).
The Warriors still seek their first win of the year as the home squad fell to 0-6 (0-4 CACC).
GCU jumped out to a quick 2-0 advantage after
Melissa Williams (29:13) and
Callie Brown (29:03) netted goals within the first minute of action. Nyack's
Stacey Cervantes put the Warriors within one after putting her team on the board at 28:02. Three more scores by Georgian Court and a Nyack tally made the surplus 5-2 at the 24:46 mark before the visitors netted eight of the next nine of the half, including seven straight, to enter intermission with a 13-3 lead.
The Lions proceeded to score the first six goals of the second stanza to take a commanding 19-3 lead.
Williams paced the GCU offense as the sophomore registered four goals and an assist.
Cat Dee (2 goals, 2 assists) and
Kerry Stader (3 goals, assist) followed with four points apiece while Brown (3 goals),
Molly McCourt (3 goals), and
Silvetta Agosto (2 goals, assist) contributed three points each.
Lauren Lebo accounted for three of Nyack's five scores.
Stephanie Lehner (3-0) continues to shine in net for Georgian Court, earning her third straight victory after collecting 10 saves on the day.
Jacqueline Simeon was tagged with the defeat (7 saves).
Georgian Court returns home Thursday afternoon for a 4:00 p.m. CACC contest vs. Post University.
