Verona, N.J.- The Georgian Court University lacrosse team improved to 4-0 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play Tuesday afternoon as the Lions took to the road and cruised past Caldwell College, 17-3. The victory marks GCU's sixth straight (6-2) while the first-year Cougars drop to 0-2 (0-2 CACC).
The first half belonged to the Lions as the visitors out-scored Caldwell, 10-0. The Cougars netted two of the first three tallies of the second stanza to cut the deficit to 11-2 with 25:29, but veteran-laden Georgian Court proved to be too tough for a team playing just the second contest in program history.
Melissa Williams, for the second game in a row, compiled nine points with five goals and four assists.
Callie Brown equalled her teammate's five-goal effort while also contributing an assist.
Cat Dee enjoyed a hat trick with three goals and distributed two assists. Both
Emily Gialanella and
Kerry Stader each registered two goals and an assist while
Silvetta Agosto zipped in a pair of scores.
Stephanie Lehner, this week's CACC Defensive Player of the Week, remains undefeated in the GCU net (6-0) after turning away six Caldwell shots.
GCU takes tomorrow off before returning to the field Thursday afternoon with a 3:30 p.m. home contest vs. Wilmington University on Investors Savings Bank Field.
