Easton, Pa.- The Georgian Court University lacrosse squad, playing its first contest since taking on St. Thomas Aquinas College on February 26, took to the field Saturday afternoon vs. East Stroudsburg University. The Lions dropped a 13-7 decision in a game that took place at Lafayette University due to poor field conditions at ESU.
With the loss, GCU dips to 0-2 while the Warriors stay perfect at 4-0. ESU owned a slight 6-4 advantage heading into the intermission before out-scoring the visitors, 7-3 in the second stanza.
East Stroudsburg's
Kaitlynn Wiltraut (So. Bethlehem, Pa.) paced the Warriors' offense with a game-high seven goals while L
auren Nunes (So.-Phillipsburg, N.J.) followed with a hat-trick of her own.
As for the Lions,
Molly McCourt and
Melissa Williams each provided a pair of goals in the loss.
Jessica Maxwell (Fr.-Oceanside, N.Y.) earned the win between the pipes for ESU, collecting 10 saves in the winning effort. GCU's
Amanda Cathcart fell to 0-2 in goal for the Lions, tallying nine saves in the outing.
GCU returns to action Wednesday afternoon with a 3:30 p.m. non-conference home game vs. Queens College.
