GCU (13-4, 10-2 CACC), the 2014 North Division champions, now sets its sight on Saturday afternoon when the Lions take on Holy Family University in the 2014 CACC Lacrosse Championship Tournament semifinals (hosted by Chestnut Hill College) at 2:00 p.m. in a rematch of last season's epic three-overtime semfinals showdown. The Tigers (8-8, 8-3) won that battle, 15-14, and won the only meeting of this season, 11-10, back on April 12 at GCU.
Holy Family has defeated the Lions in six straight meetings (including postseason) with GCU's last win vs. the Tigers coming on 4/9/11 (21-12).
Tuesday's outcome was never in question as Georgian Court jumped out to a 9-0 lead less than 15 minutes into the contest (15:41). After entering the half up 10-2, the Lions outscored the Warriors (3-14, 2-10 CACC) by a 7-3 mark in the second stanza as they coasted to the "W".
Melissa Williams, the conference leader in total points with 83, collected ten of those digits in this contest with five goals and five assists. McCourt rode the high of her pregame accolades with a five-goal showing herself.
Silvetta Agosto added a goal and three assists for four total points while Dee and
Callie Brown contributed a goal and two assists.
Emily Gialanella added two goals.
Lauren Lebo (So.-West Simsbury, Conn.) carried the Nyack offense with four goals on the day.
Stephanie Lehner, named the conference's First Team goalkeeper earlier in the day, improved to 13-2 in the Lions' net with two saves in 30 minutes of action.
Jacqueline Simeon (Fr.-Hartford, Conn.) suffered the defeat, collecting four total saves in 60 minutes.
