GCU's Winning Streak Snapped at Philadelphia University with 13-4 Setback

Philadelphia, Pa.- The Georgian Court University lacrosse squad saw its nine-game winning streak come to an abrupt end Saturday afternoon as the Lions fell at arch-rival Philadelphia University, 13-4, in an always anticipated Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest.

With the setback, GCU's first since March 8, the Lions now own a record of 9-3 (7-1 CACC) while the Lady Rams improve to 8-1 on the year (6-0 CACC).

Philly U. dominated the visitors with a 27-7 advantage in the shots-on-goal column and a 13-6 lead in draw controls.

The home team opened up a 6-1 lead in the first half, which included four goals from Philadelphia's Libby Nichols. Molly McCourt netted the Lions' lone first stanza score. The Lady Rams topped Georgian Court, 7-3, in the second session to comfortably put the game away.

Kristen Moran improved to 8-1 in the Philadelphia net, tallying two saves in the effort. Stephanie Lehner suffered her first setback of the year (9-1), collecting three saves in 33:38 of action.

Nichols garnered six points on the afternoon with five goals and an assist. Teammate Lauren Hartman did the same with the combo of three goals and three assists. Allison Brian contributed two goals and an assist in the win. Cat Dee, Kerry Stader, and Melissa Williams joined McCourt in the GCU scoring column.

The Lions look to commence a new streak Tuesday afternoon when they host Caldwell College at 3:30 p.m.
