Lions Shocked at Home, 3-0, by Lightning of Goldey-Beacom

Lakewood, N.J.- In an occurance that has not taken place in nine years, Goldey-Beacom College marched into Georgian Court University and defeated the Lions on their own floor, 3-0 (25-19, 25-13, 25-13), shocking the defending champions in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action Thursday night.

The Lightning (3-3, 1-0 CACC) last defeated GCU on October 11, 2011 and have not won on the Lions' turf since September 24, 2005. Georgian Court falls to 2-3 (0-1 CACC) after the setback.

GBC's Kadi McCoy (Sr.-Dallastown, Pa.) topped the Lightning offense with her game-high nine kills. Teammate Danielle Cipolletti (Jr.-Scottsdale, Ariz.) dished a match-best 18 assists while Niki Receveur (Sr.-Wilmington, Del.) led all players with 17 digs.

Anabelle Barinas's (Sr.-Newark, N.J.) five kills paced Georgian Court's offense with three other Lions (Blue, Smith, Villariny-Rodriguez) following with four apiece. Kelsey Oliver (So.-Vancouver, Wash.) contributed 14 assists and seven digs. Francheska Cedres (Gr.-Carolina, P.R.) led GCU with eight digs.

The Lions return to action on Tuesday evening when they host Wilmington University in a rematch of last season's epic CACC Championship title match. Start time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
