Women's Remains Perfect on Season with 3-0 Shutout at Bloomfield College

Bloomfield, N.J.- The Georgian Court University women's soccer squad remained perfect on the young 2014 campaign Saturday afternoon as the visiting Lions blanked host-Bloomfield College, 3-0, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action.

GCU, following its second straight shutout victory, improve to 3-0 (2-0 CACC) on the year while the Bears still seek their first triumph of the year (0-3, 0-2 CACC).

As was the case in the Lions' season-opening, 4-1 triumph over the University of New Haven a week ago, the Georgian Court duo of Lizzy Kroon (Fr.-Bayville, N.J.) and Morgan Peacock (So.-Edison, N.J.) played a vital role in leading GCU to victory.

Kroon enjoyed her second two-goal game in three collegiate outings as the freshman intitially put the Lions ahead, 1-0, with her third tally of the year just 3:31 into the contest, assisted by Peacock. The speedster tickled the twine for the second time at 16:03, an unassisted offering of the breakaway variety, to give GCU a commanding 2-0 advantage. Kroon decided to share the wealth  at 63:38 when she assisted on Peacock's third goal of the season.

Georgian Court outshot the Bears, 19-6, and held an 8-2 advantage when it came to corner kicks.

Reigning CACC Defensive Player of the Week, Casey O'Connor (Jr.-Toms River, N.J.) registered her second straight shutout in the Lions' net, personally improving to 3-0. Bloomfield keeper, Christina Vincentini (Sr.-Lacey Twp., N.J.) was saddled with the loss, collecting 11 saves in the setback.

The Lions will be tested to the max in their next outing as they host #11 University of Bridgeport Monday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. on Investors Savings Bank Field.
