Lions Topped at Holy Family, 3-1, in Wednesday CACC Volleyball Match-Up

Lakewood, N.J.- The Georgian Court University volleyball team ventured to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) rival Holy Family University Wednesday evening for ithe first showdown of the season between the divisional rivals. The Tigers (4-9, 2-1 CACC) were victorious in contest, defeating the Lions, three-sets-to-one.

Holy Family took the four-set match by the scores of 25-15, 23-25, 25-21, 25-22. The defeat marks GCU's sixth straight, bringing their record to 3-9 (1-2 CACC) overall.

Devyn Ingram (Sr.-King of Prussia, Pa.) registered a double-double for the Tigers with 11 kills and 11 digs with Emma Herring (Jr.-Newtown, Conn.) tallying11 kills in the win. Charlotte Sabatano dished 32 assists while Melanie Ingram (Fr.-King of Prussia, Pa.) contributed a team-high 13 digs.

For Georgian Court, Tatiana Villariny-Rodriguez (Sr.-Rio Grande, P.R.) shined for the Lions' offense with a match-best 18 kills while Francheska Cedres (Gr.-Carolina, P.R.) equaled that number in the digs column. Kelsey Oliver (So.-Vancouver, Wash.) distributed 38 assists, topping all players.

The Lions return home Saturday for a Homecoming Day tri-match, featuring Bloomfield College and Southern Connecticut State University. GCU will host the conference-foe Bears at 11:00 a.m. Bloomfield with then take on SCSU at 1:00 p.m. before Georgian Court and the Owls close out the event with a 3:00 p.m. contest.
