Lakewood, NJ- In the cold of winter, Georgian Court University faced a red-hot
Nick Smith (Middletown, NY) who scored 41 points in Dominican College's 76-70 win on Sunday afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference men's basketball action.
The game between the Lions and Chargers, originally scheduled for Saturday, was played at a high level as both teams competed hard. Dominican raced out early and held a slim seven-point lead going into halftime. That lead increased to as many as 13 early in the second half before the Lions started to roar back. GCU cut the lead to four with 11 seconds to play, but just didn't have enough time to complete the comeback.
Keith Hughes (Woodbridge, NJ) scored 24 points to lead the Lions.
Juwuan Carter (Paterson, NJ) chipped in with 18.
For Dominican, Smith's 41points was a game high,
Joe Clinton (Pearl River, NY) was the only other Charger in double figures as he finished the contest with 11 points.
Georgian Court will next play Tuesday night against Goldey- Beacom College at 8pm. That night the Lions will celebrate its Blue and Gold Day. All fans in attendance are asked to support the team by wearing either Blue or Gold.
