Bridgeport, Conn.- For the first time since opening day on September 3rd, the Georgian Court University women's soccer team found itself on the short-end of a decision Monday night as the Lions dropped a 4-1 non-conference contest at the University of Bridgeport.
The loss erases GCU's 11-game unbeaten streak and dropped their record to 10-2-1 on the year. The Purple Knights, the #7 team in the nation, improve to 11-1 on the season.
Bridgeport's
Jess Laszio (Fr.-Stamford, Conn.) carved up the GCU defense with a hat trick on the evening, netting goals at 15:24, 40:59, and 71:14, giving her 10 on the year.
Amanda Moura (Jr.-Belo Horizonte, Brazil) provided the Knights' other tally, a header at 31:09.
Morgan Peacock accounted for GCU's lone score, a headball off a
Tuere Chisholm-Thomas feed at 70:15.
Georgian Court returns to Central Atantic Collegiate Conference play this Saturday when they welcome Concordia College to the Lions' home pitch at noon.
