Rutherford, N.J.- The Georgian Court University volleyball squad, participating in its third tri-match (first on the road) of the year, traveled to Felician College Saturday to take on the host-Golden Falcons and Southern Connecticut State University.
The Lions secured an always-important Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory with a 3-1 triumph (25-18, 25-22, 18-25, 25-16) over Felician, followed by a 3-2 non-conference defeat of the Owls (26-24, 25-18, 23-25, 23-25, 15-10).
The pair of wins bumps GCU's overall record to 13-11 (7-4 CACC). Felician falls to 4-18 (2-9 CACC). SCSU, whom the Lions defeated in Connecticut, 3-1, back on September 10, slips to 5-18 overall.
In the opener,
Peggy Rosario tied for the game-high with 16 kills, to go along with nine digs.
Jessica Pedroza drilled seven kills and secured 10 digs.
Kelsey Oliver enjoyed a double-double consisting of 30 assists and 12 digs.
Nerishka Cruz De La Rosa shared the match lead with her 22 digs.
Kelsie Blue dominated above the tape with 11 overall blocks (eight blocking assists).
As for the nightcap, Rosario (13 kills,10 digs) and
Taylor Winchester (14 kills,19 digs) joined Oliver with double-doubles of their own. Blue added 10 kills  while Oliver dished 40 assists.
Cruz De La Rosa led all players with 31 digs in the nerve-wracking, five-set battle.
GCU receives a reprieve until Wednesday evening when the Lions host Holy Family University at 7:00 p.m.
