GCU Men Blanked for First Time in 3-0 Shutout at Philadelphia University

Philadelphia, Pa.-The Georgian Court University men's soccer squad suffered its first shutout of the season as the Lions succumbed to the Rams of Philadelphia University, 3-0, Tuesday afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action.

The defeat snaps GCU's season-long four-game winning streak and drops their overall record to 6-5-2 (4-3-2 CACC). Philadelphia improves to 8-3-4 (6-2-2 CACC) after the home victory.

After a scoreless first half of action, Philly's Jason Rocha (Fr.-Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) put the Rams on the board at 61:49, netting his fourth of the year on a leaping header. A costly Georgian Court infraction at 86:36 set up a penalty kick for Philadelphia, which was promptly deposited by Angelo Dambalas (Sr.-Marlton, N.J.). Paolo Martinez (So.-Panama City, Panama) sealed the P.U. triumph at 88:53 after sending in a diving header to make the score 3-0.

The Rams owned a healthy 17-5 shot advantage on the visitors.

GCU looks to get back at it Thursday afternoon with a 3:30 p.m. non-conference home match vs. Queens College.
