Lakewood, N.J.- The Georgian Court University women's soccer team continued its march through the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference with a convincing 2-0 win against Post University Saturday afternoon. With the victory the Lions improve to 12-2-2 overall and 9-0-1 in the CACC.
After playing a scoreless first half, the Lions came out of the break with a renewed energy and quickly found the back of the net in the 48th minute of play (47:12) as
Tori Capestro connected from 20 yards out after receiving a
Lizzy Kroon pass. Capestro was not done as she once again scored from distance in the 70th minute (69:48).
Megan Hubbard was credited with the helper.
The Lions' defense once again held strong as Post (8-6-1, 8-2-1 CACC) was only able to get two shots off in the game. GCU Goalkeeper
Casey O'Connor recorded her 10th shutout of the season, tying a CACC single season record. O'Connor and the back line of
Morgan LaDuca,
Melinda MacNeil, and
Laura Nelson have not allowed a goal in 288:46.Â
Georgian Court will play their final regular season home game on Tuesday, October 27th against Wilmington University. Prior to the game, Georgian Court will honor their 5 seniors as O'Connor, Capestro,
Tuere Chisholm-Thomas,
Rachel Marino and
Katie Vecchio will play in their final home game. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30pm.
