Lakewood, N.J.- Six different players scored goals, including a hat-trick from
Michael Clarke, as the Georgian Court University men's soccer squad rained down on Felician College, 8-1, on a stormy Homecoming Day at GCU.
The Lions, now 3-4-2 on the season (2-2-2 CACC), have outscored the Golden Falcons (2-8, 1-5 CACC), 16-1, over the schools' past two meetings.
Georgian Court attacked immedately when
Arturo Sanchez found the back of the net for the Lions just 1:29 into the game when he connected on a
Andres Adum pass for his fourth goal of the year. Clarke would also secure an Adum feed, setting up his first of three goals on the day at 9:57. Clarke returned the favor to his teammate at 16:04 as Adum buried a cross for his first tally of the year.
Craig Smith connected on a nifty header, off an
Elliot Baldwin direct kick, to make it 4-0 Lions at 20:04. Baldwin blasted his first goal of the year at 38:20, a shot from 35 yards out that just avoided the Felician crossbar, giving GCU a 6-0 advantage heading into the half.
The highlight of the second stanza came at 74:44 when
Ben Salsby, seeing his first action of the year due to a leg injury, netted his first score of the year after a corner kick-induced scrum.
GCU dominated the shot column, 26-9.
Aleksander Milosevic improved to 3-3-2 in the Lions' net after collecting seven saves in 81:17 of action.
Georgian Court stays home to host Goldey-Beacom College in a CACC contest this Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
