Lakewood NJ- The Georgian Court University men's basketball team made their home debut Wednesday evening against Holy Family University, projected by the CACC conference coaches to finish number one in the conference's South Division. The Lions came up short, falling to the Tigers by the score of 92-73. With the win Holy Family improves to 2-1, 1-0 CACC, while Georgian Court dips to 0-3, 0-1 CACC.

The first half was a back and forth affair as the teams traded basket after basket. Holy Family was able to stretch its lead to nine until, with 1.2 seconds to go in the half, Juwuan Carter connected on a thrilling three-quarters court buzzer-beater to cut the lead to just six (40-34) going into the break. Holy Family took control of the game in the second half behind Isaiah Gans' (Sr.-Philadelphia, Pa.) huge night of 22 points, 13 rebounds and six blocks. With Gans leading the way, the Tigers were able to put five players into double figures en route to 52 second-half points and the victory.

Holy Family shot a whopping 48 three pointers in the game, connecting on 15.

For Georgian Court, Carter finished with a game high 23 on 8-11 from the floor to lead all scorers. Keith Hughes chipped in with 18 points and 12 rebounds for his first double-double of the season, while both J.D. Rodriguez and Luka Zgonjanin both had nine points apiece.

The Lions did quality work on the boards, out-rebounding their opponent by a 53-45 margin, including an impressive 20 offensive rebounds.

Georgian Court will take to the road for their next three games, starting on Saturday (11/21) as they travel to Queens, New York to take on East Coast Conference foe, Queens College. Tipoff is scheduled for 2pm. The squad will return to the friendly confines of the GCU Wellness Center on December 5th when they host Wilmington University at 3pm.
