Lakewood, N.J.- Georgian Court University and Wilmington University renewed their intense volleyball rivalry Wednesday evening in the GCU Wellness Center as the visiting Wildcats escaped with a 3-1 victory in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division action.
Wilmington (21-7, 14-3 CACC) snared the first set, 25-14, while the Lions evened the score in set two with a 25-19 triumph. Unfortunately for the home squad, the Wildcats would go on to outlast GCU (17-14, 10-6 CACC) in sets two and three (25-23 & 28-26) to secure the road win.
The match contained a plethora of offense as the two clubs combined for 99 kills on 313 total attacks.
Taylor Winchester was one of three Lions to contribute a triple-double as the senior rocked 19 kills and 12 digs.
Peggy Rosario followed with 15 kills and 15 digs while
Kelsey Oliver registered 43 assists and 17 digs.
Nerishka Cruz De La Rosa topped GCU with 20 digs.
GCU now focuses on Chestnut Hill College as the Griffins come into "The Well" Saturday afternoon at noon. CHC defeated the Lions for the first time in its history, 3-2, in Philadelphia on October 7.
