Neptune, N.J.- Georgian Court University junior
Melissa Williams  became the 10th player in GCU women's lacrosse history to net 100 career goals when she found the back of the net with just two seconds remaining in the Lions' 15-6 loss to #12 West Chester University Saturday afternoon at Reynolds Athletic Complex.
Melissa, who becomes the first to accomplish this feat for GCU since
Molly McCourt did so back on 4/21/13, needed a hat trick coming into the contest. After being shutout in the first half, Williams deposited her CACC-leading 13th and 14th goals of the season at 26:25 and 4:06 of the second stanza, respectively, before sinking the milestone tally.
Teammate
Emily Gialanella provided a hat trick of her own with the Lions' other three goals on the day, bringing her season total up to six on the year.
The Golden Rams (2-1) outscored Georgian Court 11-2 going into intermission before both squads secured four goals each in the second half. GCU dips to 1-3 on the year with loss.
West Chester keeper
Merrilee Viguers (So.-Malvern, Pa.) collected seven saves in the complete-game victory for the Golden Rams while GCU's
Stephanie Lehner suffered the loss for the Lions, compiling nine saves in 46:55.
The Lions kick off the CACC portion of its schedule this Tuesday with a 4:00 p.m. road game at Dominican College.
