Kutztown, Pa.- Coming off a four-game losing streak, the Georgian Court University women's lacrosse team won its third straight Thursday afternoon with a 10-7 non-conference triumph at Kutztown University.
With the victory, GCU inches closer to the .500 mark at 4-5 while the Golden Bears fall to 1-8.
Goals by the GCU duo of
Taylor Reinecke and
Taylor Bauerband provided the Lions with a 2-0 lead 9:24 into the game. Kutztown's
Jillian Spencer (Sr.-Sewell, N.J.) and
Taylor Stone (Sr.-West Babylon, N.Y.) answered with goals of their own at 15:43 and 14:34, respectively, to knot the score at 2-2.Â
The two squads exchanged tallies to tie the game at 3-3 with 10:25 remaining. The Georgian Court "Taylor tandem" snapped the stalemate as Reinecke netted a pair and Bauerband added another, giving the Lions a 6-3 advantage with just 1:26 left before intermission.
Spencer squeaked in her second of the half, cutting the Kutztown deficit to 6-4 just 0:16 before the break.
Silvetta Agosto registered the first goal of the second stanza 6:19 into the period to make it 7-4 Lions before two straight scores by the Golden Bears cut the GCU lead to 7-6 with 17:05 to go.
Melissa Williams (14:13) and
Callie Brown (10:34, 8:20) proceeded to answer with three straight tallies for the Lions, securing a 10-6 lead and the victory.

Amanda Cathcart (3-1) secured her third straight win, and third consecutive effort permitting less than 10 goals, while collecting eight saves in 45:47.
Abby Cox (So.-York, Pa.) suffered the loss for Kutztown, garnering two saves in 30:00.
Reinecke finished the day with a game-high four goals while Brown and Bauerband added two scores apiece.
GCU returns home Saturday for a non-conference home contest vs. Mercy College. Game time is slated for noon.
