West Haven, Conn.- The Georgian Court University volleyball team concluded its appearance in the two-day University of New Haven Invitational Saturday afternoon as the Lions dropped matches to Daemen College and the host-Chargers, concluding a stretch of five matches over three days.
The Lions (4-5) lost in straight sets to the Wildcats (18-25, 18-25, 23-25) before falling to UNH, 3-sets-to-1 (17-25, 25-21, 23-25, 13-25).
Peggy Rosario topped the GCU offense in the setback vs. Daemen (3-5) with her 13 kills.
Kelsey Oliver added 26 assists while
Nerishka Cruz De La Rosa led all players with 18 digs.
In the nightcap vs. New Haven (5-3), Rosario,
Kelsie Blue and
Jessica Sipili shared the team high with eight kills apiece while Oliver authored a double-double for GCU with 28 assists and 15 digs. Four additional Lions achieved double-digits in digs, including: Cruz De la Rosa (18), Sipili (16),
Jessica Pedroza (12) and Rosario (11).
Georgian Court now earns a much-needed reprieve before commencing the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) portion of its schedule Thursday evening at Holy Family University.Â
