Lakewood, N.J.- The Georgian Court University men's soccer club continues to impress in 2015 as the Lions rallied for a late-minute tie vs. a very talented Bloomfield College squad, resulting in both teams eventually settling for a hard-fought 1-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference stalemate.
The effort keeps the Lions undefeated in conference play (1-0-1) and extends their unbeaten streak to three (2-2-1 overall). The Bears moves its record to a symmetrical 2-2-2 (1-1-1 CACC).
Bloomfield jumped out to an early 1-0 advantage at 22:45 when
Paulio Claudio (Jr.-San Paulo, Brazil) knocked home a
Tevin Blake (So.-Savannah la Mar, Jamaica) feed for his conference-leading seventh goal of the season.
The Bears' surplus would hold until the 86th minute (85:42) when
Garrett McVeigh collected a loose ball and ripped the equalizer, knotting the contest at one and giving the junior his first tally of the year.
The tie marks the fourth such result in the two-plus year history of GCU men's soccer and represents the first since September 11, 2014 vs. Chestnut Hill College. Coincidentally, all four contests ended with a score of 1-1.
Aleksander Milosevic shined in the Georgian Court net, providing eight (sometimes very acrobatic) saves in 120:00. Bloomfield's
Wilson Cisneros (Jr.-Bronx, N.Y.) gathered three saves in his complete-game effort for the Bears.
BC outshot GCU, 16-9, with the Lions owning a slight 6-5 advantage in corner kicks.
Georgian Court takes to the road Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. when they travel to previously-mentioned Chestnut Hill.
