Lakewood, N.J.- Nine different players tickled the twine Saturday afternoon for the Georgian Court University women's soccer squad as the Lions blasted visiting Bloomfield College, 11-0, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play.
The Lions (4-1, 2-0 CACC) have now been victorious in four straight contests and remain unbeaten vs. conference foes. The Bears fall to 2-3 (0-3 CACC) after the setback.
Lizzy Kroon, netted her second hat trick over the last three games and compiled her third multi-goal effort of the season in today's win giving the sophomore sensation a conference-best nine goals in just five outings.
A career day was enjoyed by
Jessica Constantine as the junior collected five points on the day, which included three assists and a perfectly handled header that resulted in her first collegiate goal.
Seniors
Tori Capestro and
Katie Vecchio each registered their first tallies of the season while
Amanda Astudillo,
Jill Behan and
Carolyn Stanton joined Constantine with their first-ever visit to the scoring column. Â
Tayler Bramley (4th of the year) and
Rachel Marino (2nd) also found the back of the net for GCU.
Lauren Mendez (2),
Tuere Chisholm-Thomas,
Megan Melchionne,
Rosa Franze, Bramley, Marino, and Astudillo provided the remaining helpers for the Lions.
The win marked the largest margin of victory for the Lions since winning at Lincoln University, 10-0, back on September 3, 2009. Georgian Court has outscored its opponents, 24-2, on the season.
Casey O'Connor registered her third consecutive shutout, and improved to 4-1 in the GCU net, after collecting three saves in the dazzling team effort. The shutout streak is the longest since O'Connor and the Lions blanked four straight opponents in 2013 (9/17-9/28).
GCU takes to the road Wednesday afternoon with a 4:00 p.m. CACC match at Chestnut Hill College.
