Lafayette Hill, Pa.- The Georgian Court University women's soccer squad is the owner of its first five-game winning streak in four years as the Lions secured a 1-0 triumph Wednesday afternoon at Chestnut Hill College.
GCU (5-1, 3-0 CACC) last won five consecutive matches in 2011 (9/21-10/5) and has outscored their opponents, 25-1, over this current stretch. With the defeat, the Griffins fall
below .500 at 3-4 (1-3 CACC).
The Lions looked to be on their way to another scoring blitz after
Tayler Bramley (4th of the year) sent in a
Lizzy Kroon helper just 2:44 into the contest to put the visitors ahead, 1-0. That would be the end of the scoreboard lamp lighting as
Casey O'Connor (3) and her Chestnut Hill counterpart,
Kayla Reno (6), combined for nine total saves.
GCU outshot CHC,15-5, and owned a 9-4 advantage with regards to corner kicks.
O'Connor (5-1) and the Lions have not yielded a goal in 396:14, the longest shutout streak for the program since O'Connor and the Lions also blanked four straight opponents in 2013 (9/17-9/28).
Georgian Court stays on the road with a CACC contest this Saturday at Nyack College. Start time is scheduled for noon.
