Nyack, N.Y.- The Georgian Court University men's soccer team saw its season-high unbeaten streak halted at four Saturday afternoon as the Lions dropped a 2-1 decision to host-Nyack College in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action.
The setback sends GCU to 2-3-2 on the year with a 1-1-2 mark vs. CACC opposition. The Warriors, in turn, improve to 3-3 overall while staying unblemished in CACC play (3-0).
The home team took an initial 1-0 advantage at 14:18 when
Simon Kraemer (Fr.-Wentorf, Germany) buried a goal from close range, courtesy of a
Giovanni Galvano (So.-Tappan, N.Y.) assist.
GCU's
Jorge Rivera evened the score at 1-1 just 27 seconds into the second stanza (45:27) when he netted a deflection for his first tally of the season. The score would remain knotted until the 57th minute (56:02) when
Samuel Viau (So.-Stormville, N.Y.) pushed through a
Francois Legoedec (So.-Etreville, France) pass for the game-winner.
Nyack owned a 13-9 shot advantage and 6-5 lead in corner kicks.
Wiktor Lasota (Fr.-Warsaw, Poland) stopped four GCU shots to earn the personal victory in the Nyack net.
Aleksander Milosevic collected three saves in the complete-game defeat.
Georgian Court looks to start fresh this Wednesday when they travel to Holy Family University for a CACC showdown at 4:00 p.m.
