Caldwell, N.J.- The Georgian Court University volleyball team, with hopes of remaining undefeated in conference play, dropped a 3-2 thriller Saturday afternoon at Caldwell University in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action.
The Lions, now owners of a three-game losing streak, fall to 6-8 on the season (2-1 CACC) while the Cougars improve to 10-4 on the year (3-1 CACC).
Caldwell took set one, 25-16, before GCU evened the score with a 25-18 win in set two. The Lions went on to victory in the third frame, 27-25, but the Cougars, on the brink of elimination, charged ahead and swiped the final two sets, 26-24 and 15-12, to secure the triumph.
Two Georgian Court players secured double-doubles, including
Peggy Rosario (14 digs,12 kills) and
Taylor Winchester (30 digs, 13 kills).
Melanee Coleman and
Kelsie Blue contributed 11 and 10 kills, respectively, while
Kelsey Oliver distributed a match-best 51 assists.
Nerishka Cruz De La Rosa added 22 digs for GCU.
Georgian Court returns home to host its first dual match of 2015 as the Lions welcome University of the Sciences to the Wellness Center Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m.
