Newark, Del.- The Georgian Court University men's basketball squad snapped its nine-game slide and completed the season sweep of Wilmington University as the Lions defeated the Wildcats on the road Wednesday evening, 75-70, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) divisional play.
GCU (3-14, 2-8 CACC) last won on December 5th when the Lions defeated Wilmington, 81-75, in the Wellness Center Arena. The Wildcats slip to 6-13 (1-9 CACC) after the setback.
Nikola Vujovic led the charge for the Georgian Court offense, collecting 24 points on an 8-for-11 effort from the floor and 8-for-12 shooting from the charity stripe.
Michael Pierre buried 14 points in 24 minutes off the GCU bench.
Juwuan Carter and
Claude Payne added 12 points apiece while
Keith Hughes poured in eight and grabbed a team-best 11 boards.
Tyaire Ponzo-Meek (Jr.-Wilmington, Del.) enjoyed a monster game in the losing effort for the Wildcats, collecting a double-double performance of 30 points and 12 rebounds, to go along with five steals and three assists.
Sam Sanders (Sr.-Philadelphia, Pa.) added 11 points for Wilmington.
The Lions look to continue the momentum on Friday evening when they host Caldwell University at 7:00 p.m. in the "Well".
