Lakewood, N.J.- The Georgian Court men's basketball squad's program-best three-game winning streak came to a screeching halt at the hands of visiting Post University Saturday afternoon as the Eagles sizzled from the floor on their way to a comfortable 84-50 win.
Georgian Court (5-15, 4-9 CACC), coming off the biggest win in the young program's history Wednesday at University of the Sciences, couldn't match the hot shooting of today's opponent. Post University shot an tantilizing 18-for-27 in the first half of play, including going 9- for-15 from beyond the arc. Their hot start gave them a 48-24 advantage at the half.
As the Eagles soared, the Lions struggled a bit from the floor, shooting under 35%. With the second half came a vast improvement for the home side behind
Juwuan Carter's 14 points as the Lions shot nearly 50% from the field in the second stanza.
Claude Payne had a season-high 13 points while
Nikola Vujovic added 11, but it wasn't enough as Post continued to light it up, shooting over 60% in the second half.Â
Post finished the game 15-for-23 from long distance behind Matt Mareno (So.-San Francisco, Calif.), who was a perfect 3-3 from downtown and had a game-high 19 points. In all, eight different Eagles hit three-pointers. Malcom Amos (Jr.-Brockport, Ill.) (17 points) and Tyler Desrosiers (So.-Agawam, Mass.) (10 point)s combined to go 4-for-5 from downtown.
The Lions will next welcome Chestnut Hill College into the Wellness Center on Wednesday night at 6:00 p.m.
