Lakewood, N.J.- A Jessica Constantine header with just two minutes remaining in double overtime (108:00) provided the Georgian Court University women's soccer squad a thrilling come-from-behind 2-1 victory over visiting Queens College Wednesday afternoon in non-conference regional action.

The triumph not allows the Lions to avoid their second straight stalemate (Saturday at Post University), it also keeps GCU perfect at home with an unblemished 4-0 mark (8-3-1 overall). The Knights fall to 3-8-1 after the setback.

Erin Vernillo (Jr.-Smithtown, N.Y.) kicked off the scoring, giving Queens an intitial 1-0 advantage at 40:58 after concluding a sprint up the right wing with a boot into the upper left corner for her fifth of the season.

Queen's surplus would hold until early in the second session when GCU's Amanda Astudillo drilled home the equalizer at 52:53 as she collected a Kaitlin Lister feed and poured in a blast from point blank range that tipped off the goalkeeper's raised hands and dropped just behind the goal line. The tally represents the team-leading sixth of the season for Astudillo.

The 1-1 knotting would stand firm until Constantine skillfully flipped a Morgan LaDuca 40-yard free kick off the back of her noggin and in for the game-winner to conclude the thrilling contest.

GCU trounced the visitors, 31-5, in the shots column but could only muster its two goals in the process.

Natalie Axelsson registered her eighth win of the year in the Lions' net, needing just one save in the complete-game effort. Nicole Cranny (Jr.-Abbeyleix, Ireland) started in frame for the Knights, grabbing 11 saves over 95:34 before moving into the field due to a teammate injury. Megan Deak (Jr.-West Islip, N.Y.) took over for the final 12:26 before suffering the tough-luck defeat (three saves).

The Lions return to CACC conference play Saturday at noon when they host Dominican College.
