Lakewood, N.J.- The Georgian Court University women's volleyball squad won its third straight match, and improved to 8-2 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play, as the Lions extinguished the Lightning of Goldey-Beacom College, 3-1, Friday evening in the Wellness Center.
GCU (11-12 overall) took the first game, 25-17, before slipping in game two, 20-25. The home team then proceeded to sweep the subsequent sets by the scores of 25-17 and 25-19 to secure the always-key divisional win.
Peggy Rosario just missed a double-double on the evening with her 13 kills and nine digs while teammate
Kelsie Blue clobbered 10 kills to complement five blocks.
Kelsey Oliver dished a match-best 38 assists while
Janelli Torres (16) and
Vanelix "Gaby" Merced (10) achieved double-digits in digs.
The Lions now travel to Waterbury, Connecticut to take on two-time defending CACC champion, Post University, in a mighty road match Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
