Lakewood, N.J.- The Georgian Court University men's soccer squad collected its second straight shutout Saturday (fifth overall) as the Lions dropped Dominican College, 3-0, in an always-crucial Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest.
The victory gives the Lions eight wins (8-5-1, 5-3-1 CACC) for the first time in program history and increases their unblemished record at home to 5-0-1. The Chargers fall to 4-10 (3-6 CACC) on the year.
The "A-Team" of
Arturo Sanchez and
Andres Adum collaborated for GCU's first goal of the game as Sanchez received an Adum feed and, after a mad dash, deposited the ball in for his third tally of the year at 11:23. The 1-0 advantage remained until 76:34 when Adum buried a penalty kick for his first scoring effort of the season.
Michael Clarke closed out the Georgian Court offensive output at 84:03 after taking a
Craig Smith at midlfield all the way to the back of the net. It marked the senior's third goal on the year.
Sebastian Mikuska registered his second consecutive win ( and shutout) in net for the Lions, collecting six saves in the complete-game effort.
GCU goes for win #9 this Wednesday when the Lions host Chestnut Hill College at 3:30 p.m. in another key CACC showdown.
