Lakewood, N.J.- The Georgian Court University women's volleyball team suffered a split Saturday afternoon as the Lions hosted Felician University and Assumption College for a late-season tri-match in the GCU Wellness Center.
The home team opened the trifecta with a 3-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) triumph over Felican (0-22, 0-13 CACC), grounding the Golden Falcons with scores of 25-14, 25-16, and 25-19.
Jennifer Smith fell just short of her first double-double of the year with a team-best eight kills and nine digs.
Peggy Rosario matched Smith with nine digs of her own while pelting five kills.
Shana Rayside slammed home six kills in two sets of action while
Kelsey Oliver dished 31 assists and dropped in four service aces.
Things did not go as planned in the nightcap as the Lions (13-14) suffered a lacklaster defeat to the 5-13 Greyhounds of Assumption, 3-1 (25-14, 24-26, 15-25, 22-25).
Rosario (17 kills,18 digs) and Oliver (46 assists, 12 digs) registered double-doubles in the non-conference setback.
Kelsie Blue pounded 11 kills while
Janelli Torres controlled 26 digs.
GCU gets right back at it Sundaymorning with an 11:00 a.m. match at Bowie State University.
