Wilmington, Del.- Already the top blocker in Georgian Court University volleyball history,
Kelsie Blue placed an emphatic exclamation point next this column in the GCU record book as the senior secured her 500th career block Tuesday evening in the Lions' 3-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory at Goldey-Beacom College.
With 12 mighty blocks in the contest (three solo, nine assisted), Kelsie now has exactly 500 denials in her illustrious collegiate career. Complemented by her 12 kills, Blue earned her first double-double of the season.
GCU climbed above the .500 mark (15-14), and increased its conference record to 11-3 with the victory as the Lions dodged the Lightning with scores of 25-23, 19-25, 25-19, and 29-27. Goldey-Beacom slips to 8-12 (4-10 CACC) after the home court setback.
Peggy Rosario topped the team with 13 kills on the night while
Kelsey Oliver distributed 38 assists in the win.
Janelli Torres (26) and
Jennifer Smith (13) paced the Lions in the category of digs.
Amy Bruno joined Blue above the net with her eight blocking assists.
The Lions return home Friday evening with a 6pm CACC home contest vs. Chestnut Hill College. GCU will host its annual "Dig Pink" Cancer Awareness Night in conjunction with the game.
