Newark, Del.- The Georgian Court University women's volleyball squad closed out the 2016 regular season in stellar fashion Tuesday evening as the Lions escaped Delaware with a quality 3-1 victory over host-Wilmington University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) divisional showdown.
The Lions (18-16, 14-5 CACC) snapped a two-game slide with the win, dismissing the Wildcats (9-20, 6-12 CACC) by the scores of 17-25, 25-16. 25-21. 25-15.Â
On a night GCU clobbered 50 kills as a club,
Peggy Rosario (15) and
Kelsie Blue (10) achieved double-digits in the aforementioned category. Rosario also added 21 digs to lock up the sophomore's team-best 12th double-double of the year. Blue registered six blocks (4 solo) in the effort.
Kelsey Oliver captained the ship with her match-high 47 assists.
Janelli Torres topped all participants with her 28 digs.
Jessica Pedroza added 17 digs of her own, followed by 12 from
Gaby Merced.
Georgian Court will now look ahead to next Tuesday as the Lions host a CACC Championship Tournament quarterfinal contest as the #2 seed in the South Division. GCU is expected to take on Caldwell University (#3 North Division) at 7 p.m.Â
