Lakewood, N.J.- Five different Lions scored Saturday, including a game-high nine from
Melissa Williams, as the Georgian Court University women's lacrosse squad halted its season-opening eight-game slide in dynamic fashion, dismissing reigning Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) champion, Holy Family University, by a mighty score of 21-6.
GCU's (1-8, 1-1 CACC) 21-goal outburst was the program's largest single-game output since defeating Nyack College, 22-2, back on April 11, 2013. The Tigers slip to 1-9 (1-1 CACC) after the setback.
The Lions compiled a 12-5 advantage heading into intermission before adding an additional nine in the seconnd stanza. The home team outshot its opponent by a margin of 38-18.
Williams established a new personal single-game high with her nine tallies and is the most points (13) the senior has recorded in a single contest since collecting 17 (seven goals, 10 assists) in an 18-6 win over Post University a year ago (3/31/15).

Callie Brown enjoyed a solid showing of her own with five goals and two helpers.
Xena Valenzuela authored a hat trick while
Kayanna Chandler and
Samantha Fernandez each registered a pair of goals and an assist each.
Erin Harmer (Sr.-Philadelphia, Pa.) topped Holy Family with her three goals while
Paige Settar (Sr.-Mullica Hill, N.J.) scored a goal and dished two assists for the Tigers.
Stephanie Lehner earned earned her first victory of the campaign in net for GCU with six saves over her 50:12 of action.
Grace Deckert (Sr.-Jarrettsville, Md.) was tagged with the HFU loss (eight saves, 60:00).
Georgian Court looks to make it two straight this Tuesday with a CACC contest at Nyack College.
