Nyack, N.Y.- The Georgian Court University women's lacrosse squad spread the wealth Wednesday afternoon as eight different Lions scored goals in GCU's 22-14 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory at Nyack College.
The Lions (2-8, 2-1 CACC) have now won two straight contests while the Warriors slip to 3-7 (1-2 CACC). GCU has scored 20+ goals in back-to-back outings after compiling 21 in Saturday's triumph over Holy Family University.
The two teams alternated to score the contest's first four goals before GCU snapped the 2-2 stalemate with three straight to make it 5-2 Lions with 14:05 remaining in the first half. Nyack countered with four in a row to take a slim 6-5 advantage at the 11:50 mark. Georgian Court erased the deficit with a vengeance as the road team popped in five unanswered to close the half ahead by a 10-6 margin.
The Warriors came out in the second stanza by scoring four of the half's first five goals, bringing the home team to within one (11-10). Georgian Court would have none of that as the Lions charged ahead with six consecutive tallies to provide a 17-10 cushion. Nyack would score two of the next three to make it 16-12 GCU, before the victors pushed forward with another four straight to put them ahead by 10 with 4:57 left in regulation.
Melissa Williams, after scoring nine goals on Saturday vs. HFU, netted another five vs. Nyack to pace the Lions' offense.
Silvetta Agosto enjoyed a four-goal peformance for GCU while
Taylor Bauerband,
Kayanna Chandler, and
Xena Valenzuela each added hat tricks to the scoring ledger.
