Bloomfield, N.J.- The Georgian Court University's men's soccer squad rebounded splendidly from an 0-2 start to the season Saturday afternoon with a clutch 2-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference road win vs. Bloomfield College. The victory marked the Lions first over the Bears in four overall matchups (1-2-1).
Bloomfield (1-3, 0-1 CACC) struck early in the first half (5:37) when
Amin Miller (Sr.-Mondeville, Jamaica) one-timed a
Tevin Blake (Jr.-Savanaah la Mar, Jamaica) pass with a header goal to provide the hosts with a 1-0 lead.
Georgian Court responded to tie the contest at 9:38 when
Garrett McVeigh (assisted  by
Joe Esposito) drilled a rebound for his first tally of the season.
The stalemate would remain until 56:43 when
Will Docherty scorched a shot over the Bloomfield keeper's head from outside the 18, providing the Lions with a 2-1 advantage that they would not relinquish.
In an evenly matched affair, both clubs collected 12 shots and seven corner kicks.
Jimmy Sanford earned his first career victory in net for the Lions, registering five saves in 90:00 of action.
The Lions now return home to take on Philadelphia University this Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. in a key conference showdown.
