Philadelphia, Pa.- The Georgian Court University women's volleyball squad experienced a horrible case of deja vu Friday evening as the Lions, for the second straight year, dropped a crushing five-set, 3-2 defeat at Chestnut Hill College.

GCU, in its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) season debut, rebounded from a 25-21 first-set setback by countering in the second frame, 25-12. The Lions (1-9, 0-1 CACC) pushed Chestnut Hill (4-6, 2-0 CACC) to the brink of demise by squeaking out a 25-23 pilfering of the third set before the host-Griffins clawed out of its self-imposed quagmire and solidified victories in games four (25-23) and five (15-12) to ensure the key conference triumph.

Peggy Rosario (14 kills, 21 digs) and Jessica Pedroza (12 kills, 21 digs) each garnered double-doubles in the marathon match while Kelsie Blue (10) and Kathryn vonKampen (11) eclipsed double-digits in kills. Janelli Torres, the Lions' team leader in digs this season, matched Rosario and Pedroza in this affair with 21 of her own. Kelsey Oliver paced the visitors with 46 assists.

Georgian Court now experiences a quick turnaround as the Lions head home to host Bloomfield College (11:00 a.m.) and Molloy College (3:00 p.m.) Saturday in the Wellness Center Arena. The Bloomfield-GCU showdown marks a rematch between the two clubs, their first encounter since the Bears dismissed the Lions, 3-1, in the 2015 CACC Championship Tournament quarterfinals back on 11/17/15.
