Nyack, N.Y.- A week after dismissing both Bloomfield College and Molloy College in a home tri-match, the Georgian Court University took to the road Saturday and repeated the feat, this time defeating Nyack College and Mercy College in another Saturday tri-match.
The Lions (5-10, 2-1 CACC) opened the day vs. host-Nyack in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) faceoff as GCU waltzed past the Warriors, 3-1 (17-25, 25-20, 25-22, 25-22).
Peggy Rosario continued to shine for GCU as the high-flying sophomore achieved her first of two double-doubles on the day with 11 kills and 14 digs.
Kelsey Oliver needed just one more dig (32 assists, 9 digs) for a double-double of her own while
Janelli Torres gathered 14 digs for the victors.
Kelsie Blue dominated above the net with nine blocks, including five of the solo variety.
In the nightcap, the Lions showed no mercy to the Mavericks with victories of 25-17, 25-22, and 25-12 in the three-set sweep.Â
Rosario led the way, this time with 19 digs and 13 kills, while Oliver earned her third double-double of the season with 35 assists and 10 digs.
Jessica Pedroza and
Janelli Torres also reached double-digits in the digs column with 11 each. Blue contributed nine kills and six more blocks in the match.
GCU returns home to host Holy Family University 6pm Tuesday evening in CACC action.
